Bruce Tan
Bruce Tan is an international student from Tangerang, Indonesia, who joined Santa Barbara City College in Fall 2023, majoring in Data Science. Drawn to SBCC for both academic opportunity and personal growth, Bruce quickly became involved in student leadership and began serving as Student Trustee in July 2024.
Initially motivated by a desire to engage with the campus community and gain experience in collaborative leadership, Bruce has since developed a deeper purpose: To give back the sense of belonging and support that SBCC has offered. They are now driven to help make the campus community a place of belonging for everyone.
Outside of their trustee role, Bruce is passionate about data science and exploring how technology can be used for social good. They’re also active in fitness and enjoy playing guitar in their free time. Whether in leadership or daily life, Bruce approaches everything with a thoughtful balance of curiosity, creativity, and care.
